Defund Planned Parenthood

It is the public policy of the state of Ohio to prefer childbirth over abortion—Planned Parenthood’s business model and political agenda are the reverse. Over the span of 40 years, Planned Parenthood’s abortion services have grown to consume a bigger and bigger market share. In 2013, Planned Parenthood performed 327,653 abortions—about a quarter of the country’s abortions. Planned Parenthood charges upwards of $1,500 for a first trimester abortion. According to Guttmacher, Planned Parenthood’s research arm, the average abortion costs $470. 94 percent of Planned Parenthood’s pregnancy-related services are abortions. While Planned Parenthood’s abortions rose last year, their adoption referrals and prenatal services dropped. For every adoption referral, Planned Parenthood performed 174 abortions. Last year, Planned Parenthood raked in 528 million taxpayer dollars—41 percent of its revenue. In 2013, Planned Parenthood reported more than $127 million in excess revenue and more than $1.4 billion in net assets. The Planned Parenthood abortion industry grew from the eugenic ideas of founder Margaret Sanger. She documented her ruthless beliefs in pamphlets, journals and books in the early 20th century. Such ideas include: “The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.” The eugenic ideas of the 20th century persist in today’s abortion practice where it capitalizes on minority communities, disproportionately taking the lives of African American babies and babies with disabilities. In 2013, 42 percent of abortions took place on African American women–even though they make up 12.5 percent of Ohio’s population. Make no mistake: Planned Parenthood is using your tax dollars as a shell game to fund abortion and advance their callous and inhuman ideals. Sign our petition to de-fund Planned Parenthood and ask a friend to do the same. We have more than enough reasons. With you for Life, Ohio Right to Life...

Our Pro-Life Heroes

John Jones Pastor John served the Marion Grace (Brethren) Church as Senior Pastor from 1992 until June 2017 when he and his wife Shari answered the call to be missionaries to France.  A staunch supporter of life, Pastor John was instrumental in the formation of Marion Citizens for Life in 2009.  His energy and leadership over the years have been vital in this body’s mission. Pastor John has also been an instructor for Relationships Under Construction and a strong supporter of Voice of Hope.  He served the Marion community as coordinator of prayer for County Commissioners meetings, provided leadership for Hope in Marion, served several years as a mentor at North Central Ohio Rehabilitation Center for Youth, and participated in many other multi-denominational efforts in the Marion Area.   Rev. George and Irene Sprague George and Irene served the Marion community for the cause of life from the 1980’s to the time of their passing in 2009 (Irene) and 2011 (George).  Together they served in the Salvation Army for years.  They founded Life is from God Ministries, a pro-life mission here in Marion, and were early members of Marion Citizens for Life.  A poet and writer, Irene often contributed pro-life letters to the Marion Star. The Spragues were always bold in their stand for life issues.  They are true heroes for the cause of life here in the Marion area.   Marilyn Dowler This 4’5” dynamo packs more energy in this tiny frame than a pack of wild horses.  And she spends most of it on being an advocate and champion for those who do not have a voice.  She has a big heart for children born and unborn and the elderly.  Marilyn has spent many years being involved in pro-life activities such as Marion Citizens for Life.  She was one of the original committee members.  She has been active in Teens for Life and many trips to Washington D.C. for the March for Life.  She also loves to minister to the elderly by taking her musical talents to nursing homes.  She has been active in Operation Shoe Box collection and distribution.     Thomas Allen Trimner October 25, 1945 – December 11, 2012 Tom Trimner was our dear friend and will be greatly missed.  He was a protector and defender of the unborn.  He spent many of his days praying for the protection of unborn and an end to abortion.  He earnestly prayed in front of abortion clinics faithfully several times a year despite his medical conditions.  He enjoyed educating himself on pro- life issues and gladly would...
