Our Pro-Life Heroes

John Jones Pastor John served the Marion Grace (Brethren) Church as Senior Pastor from 1992 until June 2017 when he and his wife Shari answered the call to be missionaries to France.  A staunch supporter of life, Pastor John was instrumental in the formation of Marion Citizens for Life in 2009.  His energy and leadership over the years have been vital in this body’s mission. Pastor John has also been an instructor for Relationships Under Construction and a strong supporter of Voice of Hope.  He served the Marion community as coordinator of prayer for County Commissioners meetings, provided leadership for Hope in Marion, served several years as a mentor at North Central Ohio Rehabilitation Center for Youth, and participated in many other multi-denominational efforts in the Marion Area.   Rev. George and Irene Sprague George and Irene served the Marion community for the cause of life from the 1980’s to the time of their passing in 2009 (Irene) and 2011 (George).  Together they served in the Salvation Army for years.  They founded Life is from God Ministries, a pro-life mission here in Marion, and were early members of Marion Citizens for Life.  A poet and writer, Irene often contributed pro-life letters to the Marion Star.
